Coventry University social work training

STEPiNSiDE Coventry University

A four-minute 3D 180° film that put trainee social workers inside a young person's journey through social services.

Challenge

Vibe Immersive was invited in to deliver an immersive VR training experience for trainee social workers. The university already had a JobBox a complete set of VR headsets in a charging case. What it needed was content, and a demonstration of what immersive technology could really do for professional training.

What we delivered

A specially produced four-minute film captured in 3D 180° from the first-person perspective of a teenage youth offender moving through the social services system. Students put on the headsets with no prior explanation.

Outcome

Every student reported feeling deeply for the young person and genuinely angry at the social workers in the film. Coventry University is now adopting 3D 180° filming over standard 360° for all future immersive content.

JobBox+ managed service

Coventry already had the headsets. JobBox+ turned that existing kit into a managed careers and training platform. We push new films and updates to the case remotely, and the university still uses its other VR apps and teaching tools on the same devices.

After seeing the impact of immersive 3D 180° filming, I am now drafting a proposal for my PhD for a co-creation event highlighting the benefits and usage of immersive 3D 180° filming.

Working with VIBE has been and continues to be… well my vibe!

Alex and Laura are both consummate professionals in their given expertise willing to work alongside varying professionals (in my case healthcare) and bring a balanced mix of creativity, realism and understanding to each meeting or project we have worked on or are working towards.

I couldn't recommend VIBE any more and where possible they would always be my first port of call for any immersive work going forward.
